The Finish

Monday, 23 June 2008 11:44

Very close to 9pm on Saturday June 21st, 2008 Sean, Paul, Bob, David, and Rolph, joined by an ecstatic group of runners (family, friends, and fans) at Summerhill LCBO, made their way to the southermost tip of Yonge St. in Toronto. There, awaiting at the intersection of Yonge & Queen's Quay, was a welcome crowd that cheered the athletes home.

The first cheers began at first notice of (by now) a large group of runners making their way south of Front St. Kids, loved ones, family and friends, all wanted to share a moment with these icons of inspiration. The finish was emotional and enchanting as the sun set on Toronto and reunions took over the evening.

To all involved, an informal thank you - a formal one is soon to follow.  Thank you for donating, for writing in, for sending your support, and for joining us in spirit throughout the day.

As before, please keep checking back. Full photo coverage of the event is still to come, as well as updates to the blog and information pages.

Regards,

Kam

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for this incredible day. It was long and sweaty but throughout it all, everyone kept their spirits high and the good huomour flowing.
Thank you espeically to all the emails and phone calls we recieved throughout the day. Your words made our job supporting the team that much easier. They brought encouragement and strength which pushed us along as the kms grew longer. Truly couldn't have done it without you.
I am off to sleep and hope that tomorrow requires little walking and lots of lazy :)

We are in Toronto!

Saturday, 21 June 2008 13:00

Thanks to your encouraging emails, the team has arrived in Toronto ahead of schedule by almost 2 hours!
Bodies are weakening but minds are strong. At this moment, 6pm, we are at Yonge & Sheppard.
The athletes are slowing down to meet scheduled meet-up times.

However, they are excited, keep those emails coming! keep donating! Come see us at Summerhill LCBO, or at the finish line (Yonge & Queen's Quay).

Thank you for your support.

Your emails are keeping them going!

Why else would a man dance after running more than a marathon, with just as much to go?

That's what Bob's been doing. Here's writing a theme song for the slideshow of the photos. In other news, the team is 1.5 hours ahead of schedule. However, the times for meet-ups have not changed. 9 o'clock or so at the foot of Yonge St. for the finish, and about an 1.5 hours before that at the Summerhill LCBO.

We've also found Twinkies, yes, the original. Sean's going to stop crying and start running now. No Twinkies are necessary at the finish line.

In all honesty, your emails are being read to them every 20 minutes. They have a laugh, their faces light up, and energy is restored. (At leastin their minds). So please keep it coming and please keep donating.

Check back soon!
